Cynthia’s Obituary Cynthia Ann “Cindy” Childs, age 69, passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2019 in Arcadia, FL. Cindy was born March 12, 1949 in Grenada, Mississippi to the late Charles L. and Ann Taylor Rasberry, moving to Arcadia in 1978 with her late husband John Childs. Cindy was a graduate of Riverdale High School, New Orleans, Louisiana, Class of 1967 and was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from “Ole Miss” University of Mississippi, Class of 1971.

She taught high school in the DeSoto Co. School System. Cindy loved reading, and studying her bible, she was an avid in genealogy she was also an avid Ole Miss fan. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was active in the church programs.

Survivors are her son; Jason Greene Childs, Orlando, FL, two sisters, Terry R. Jones, Grenada, Mississippi, and Valerie Sue (Joe) Evans, Madison, Mississippi; an aunt; a sister-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded by her loving husband and best friend John E. Childs. Visitation will be conducted from 10:00am until 11:00am at Calvary Baptist Church, 1509 East Oak Street, Arcadia, FL.

Funeral services will be at 11:00am at the church with Pastor Scott Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge cemetery, Arcadia, FL. Online condolences may be made at pongerkaysgrady.com Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Arcadia, FL is in charge of arrangements.
