YOUNGSTOWN – Cynthia Ryan Reardon, 81, of Youngstown passed away Saturday evening October 20, 2018 at Ohio Living Park Vista with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, celebrated by Monsignor Robert Siffrin in St. Edward Church. Mrs. Reardon was born on August 13, 1937, in Cambridge, Ohio, a daughter of James C. and Gertrude Sullivan Ryan and moved with her family to the Mahoning Valley when she was a child.

She graduated from Ursuline High School in 1955 and received a degree from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1959. Then in 1960, she married her high school sweetheart, Patrick C. Reardon on April 30, 1960, a marriage that lasted until his death on November 20, 2012. After graduation from college, Mrs. Reardon began a teaching career at Kirkmere Elementary School in Youngstown where she was on staff for a few years.

She took time away from teaching to raise a family of eight children. She returned to teaching as a sub at various catholic elementary schools in the area, including St. Edward and St Nicholas. Along with her teaching career, she enjoyed volunteering at several organizations in the community, including Beatitude House, St. Vincent DePaul, St. Edward Parish and Reading for the Blind.

Mrs. Reardon was an avid golfer and tennis player. She also enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, her book club and bird watching. She leaves to cherish her memory her eight children sons: Patrick J. (Geri) Reardon, Woodbury, Minn.

; Gregory (Eileen) Reardon, Sagamore Hills; Sheila Reardon, University Heights; Breen (Mary Lou) Reardon, Loveland; Timothy (Joni) Reardon, Vienna; Michael (Kathleen) Reardon, Charleston, SC and Dennis (Julie) Reardon, North Royalton; and Jennifer (Anthony) Puglia, Akron; 28 grandchildren; brother, James Ryan, Memphis, Tenn. and sister, Jody Read, Louisville, Ky. Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents was an infant son James Thomas Reardon and a brother Michael Ryan.

The family will receive relatives and friends on today, October 23rd, from 5-7p.m. at St. Edward Church and on Wednesday October 24th from 11a.m.-12:45p.m. also at the church prior to the mass. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Ursuline High School, 750 Wick Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 44505 and St Edward Church, 240 Tod Lane, Youngstown, Ohio, 44504.
