D. Dean Jansen, 60, of Newton died on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Newton Health Care Center. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Newton. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Following the service and a lunch at the church burial will be held at the Sully Cemetery. Memorials to On With Life may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. Dean, the son of Delmar and Jeannette (DenBesten) Jansen, was born on October 26, 1957 in Newton.

He graduated from Newton High School in 1976. Dean spent much of his life being with and taking care of his mother. They enjoyed traveling together to visit his siblings and other family members.

He also loved to ride his bicycle. Dean is survived by his siblings, Darrell (Diana) Jansen of Westminster, Colorado, Bryce (Sally) Jansen of San Diego, California, and Francene (Marvin) Van Der Pol of Lakewood, Colorado; sister-in-law, Jane Jansen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and his nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mark Jansen.
