Ilene Ann Lee, 67, of Newton died on Monday, May 14, 2018, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials to the Women of the Moose or to the Accura Health Care of Newton East Activities Fund may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Ilene, the daughter of Kenneth and Jennetta (Jessop) Green, was born on September 8, 1950 in Spencer. She grew up in Royal before moving to Newton in 1983 to run the Cozy Rest Motel. Ilene was a home care caregiver and CNA and also worked in foodservice at many area restaurants.

For 11 years she cooked and bartended at the Moose Lodge in Newton. Ilene was very active in the Women of the Moose and enjoyed gardening, crafting, canning, and spending time with her family. She also had volunteered many hours at Accura Health Care of Newton East and the Moose.

Those left to honor Ilene’s memory are her significant other of over 20 years, Terry Shaver of Newton; children, Ron “Butch” Green (Amy Gilbert) of Newton, Daniel (DeAnn) Lee of Newton, Tammy Oertel (Kevin Bru) of Gilman, Ken Shaver of Newton, Ronald Shaver of Newton, and Misty Shaver of Newton; 23 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mary McDaniel of Storm Lake. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert Lee; daughter, Terry Shaver; grandson, Hunter Lee; brothers, Claude “Bud” Green and Larry Green; and sister, Ruth Knephof.
