Ronald Olen “Cowboy” Schweinebart, 72, of Newton, formerly of Baxter, died on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 26, at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials to Ronald’s family may be left at the funeral home. Ronald, the son of Olen and Bessie (Miller) Schweinebart, was born on June 18, 1945 in Colfax. He grew up in the Baxter area and graduated from Baxter High School in 1963.

Ronald served his country in the United States National Guard. He was a lifelong farmer by Baxter and also had a 37 year career at the Maytag Factory, retiring in 2007. In 2011, Ronald moved to Newton.

Ronald enjoyed gardening, cooking, and feeding the squirrels and birds. He was a loving grandpa that enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Ronald is survived by his children, Roy Schweinebart of Marshalltown, Jodie Schweinebart (Michael Wells) of Baxter, and Wendy (Brian) Beal of Urbandale; grandchildren, Josh, Madalyn, and Collin Schweinebart, Jordan, Jake, and Devin Wells, Dakota Dawson, and Zayne Beal; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Xavier, Dominic, Colby, and Elliott; two brothers, Fred (Teresa) Schwienebart of Baxter and Jim (Patty) Schwienebart of Baxter; and his two nieces and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a great-grandson, Caleb.
