Dale Duane Askey, 78 Cortland: Dale Duane Askey, 78 of Cortland, passed away Tuesday morning, January 15, 2019 at Cleveland VA Medical Center with his family by his side. Dale was born September 19, 1940 in Altoona, PA, son of the late Dale and Dorothy (Ritchey) Askey. He moved to Ohio as a child and graduated from Poland Seminary High School.

He earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in history at Youngstown State University. Dale served in the Army during the Vietnam Era and after being discharged, he moved to the Warren area. He was a District Scout Executive for the former Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, for over 20 years, serving councils in Ohio and West Virginia.

Later, he worked for Albert Guarnieri Wholesale Distribution in Warren, retiring in 2004. Dale is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Judith Lynne Clausen, whom he married on May 9, 1964, and his son, Dale David (Kelly) Askey of Carmel, IN. There will be a memorial service on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 Main Street in Poland with Reverend Ken Gifford officiating.

Family and friends may call Friday, from 6:00 to 6:45 pm at the funeral home, with services to follow at 7 pm. The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Great Trail Council, BSA, 4500 Hudson Drive, Stow, OH 44224 in memory of Dale. Dale will always be remembered and loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed.
