David Edwin “Dave” Williams Petersburg: A memorial service celebrating the life of David Edwin “Dave” Williams will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland with the Rev. Dr. Paul W. Anderson officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Dave passed away early January 4, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman. Dave was born December 19, 1936 in Youngstown, the son of the late Clifford B. and Dorothy G. Williams. He was a graduate of Poland Seminary High School, Class of 1954.

He attended Greenbrier Military Academy, Miami University of Ohio and was a graduate of Youngstown State University. After graduating college, he joined the US Air Force and later the USAF Reserves, where he served for a total of 7 years. Dave worked for International Harvester and The White Motor Corporation.

He joined his father at Mahoning Valley Supply Company in 1976 and later took the helm as president. In addition, Dave served on the boards of directors of Western Reserve Bank and Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center. In earlier years, Dave enjoyed golf with his friends at Youngstown Country Club and cruising the Lake Erie shoreline in his classic Chris Craft Roamer, The Mistress.

Dave was a proud member of the Poland Lodge #766 F&AM and was a 32nd degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite and was a member of the Al Koran Shriners. He was also a member of VFW Post 2799 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Leslie Williams; two children, Douglas (Andrea) of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Deborah Williams of Los Angeles, California; his grandson, Robert of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brother Paul J. Williams (Maureen) of Poland; and sister-in-law, Joanne Williams of Poland; along with several nieces and nephews.
