Canfield – Robert Clinton Evans, 88, of Canfield, passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Wednesday afternoon, January 2, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Evans was born April 18, 1930 in Youngstown, a son of the late William and Elizabeth MacFarland Evans. Raised in Youngstown, Robert was a graduate of South High School, Class of 1948.

In July of 1948, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in May of 1952. Robert returned to the area and served a five year plumbing and heating apprenticeship and held a Master Plumbing and Heating License in Ohio and Pennsylvania. Robert was owner and president of Scholl-Choffin Plumbing & Heating Company in Youngstown and Erie, Pennsylvania.

He retired in 1993 after 40 years of service. Robert was a member and past president of the Plumbing and Heating Contractors. He was a member of Argus Lodge F & AM 545 of Canfield and a 32 Degree Mason of the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #0888 and the 33rd Infantry Regimental Combat Team Association. Robert was a former member of Tippecanoe Country Club and an active member of Evangel Baptist Church. Robert leaves his wife, the former Almedah L. Morse whom he married March 10, 1956; two daughters, Barbara Evans Bush of Boardman and Susan Evans (Kurt) Allen of Canfield; five grandchildren, Emily Sue Bush, Hilary Kate (fiance’ Zachary Heming) Allen, Haley Ann Allen, Mallory Grace Allen, and Lindey Mae Allen; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his twin brother, William D. Evans; and beloved older sister, Doris M. Leepard. A memorial service honoring Robert’s life will be held Saturday, January 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Evangel Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Brunko officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church.

Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m, until 10:45 a.m. at the church. Robert’s family requests any gifts or contributions be made to the Evangel Baptist Church, 5248 Southern Blvd. , Boardman, OH 44512.
