Damon Kelso Bradford February 10, 1939 – May 25, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Damon Kelso Bradford, 80, passed away at his home on Saturday, May 25, 2019. He was born February 10, 1939 in Macomb, Illinois to George and Ruth (Kelso) Bradford. He is survived by one sister, Darlene (Gene) Derry of Bardolph, Illinois, and two brothers, Duane (Mick) Bradford and Donald Bradford, both of Macomb, Illinois.

Also surviving are his partner of more than fifty years, Roger Carmack of Macomb, Illinois, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Angel. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister (Marilyn Bradford) and good friends Esther and Willis Nielson. After graduating from Bardolph Community High School, Damon worked for Woolworths and Farm King.

He later was co-owner of the Plainview Motel, the Frontier Supper Club, Damone’s, and Scruples before working at the Illinois Tourism Fulfillment Center. He also campaigned for the Honorable Laura Kent Donahue. From 1962-1964, Damon served in the United States Army as a heavy machine mechanic while stationed in Thailand.

Damon enjoyed interior decorating, having wallpapered and painted for many people in the area. Another hobby of his included boating on the Mississippi River. A life-long pleasure of his was dancing, having grown up participating in dance competitions with his sister.

His motto was “Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we’re here, we might as well dance”. Services will be held at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with a visitation Wednesday, May 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm and a funeral Thursday, May 30 at 10:30 am. Deacon Larry Adams will officiate.

Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the McDonough County Humane Society. Please sign guestbook or leave condolences at www.
