Obituary for Daniel L. Bowman Daniel L. “Dan” Bowman, 79, of Hagerstown, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at Reid Hospital in Richmond. He was born August 3, 1938 in Anderson, a son of Woodrow and Maedoris (McCune) Bowman. He married Gail Manifold April 18, 1959.

Dan was a 1956 graduate of Hagerstown High School. A lifelong farmer, he farmed Danagail Farms and Bowman Dairy Farms for many years. He was a long time member of White Branch Church of the Brethren where he served as song leader and sang for services.

He also enjoyed singing for public events and meeting people. Dan was involved in many organizations. He was a member of Young Farmers for 55 years, Henry County Community Foundation, IOF Foresters and A.O. Smith Harvesters.

He was also a 4-H Leader, Wilbur Wright Birthplace volunteer and Liberty Township Volunteer Fireman. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Gail of 59 years; children, Scott (Julie) Bowman, Kim (Lawrence) Mitchell, Trent (Jennifer) Bowman and Bennie (Martha) Bowman; grandchildren, Brittany (Jacob) Black, Jordyn (Bryce) Hoffman, Nathan (Dawn) Mitchell, Daniel (Samantha) Mitchell, Lucas (Nellie) Mitchell, Cheyanne and Zack Bowman, Travis Bowman, Chris Bowman, Janie (James) Hall, and Spence Hall; great grandchildren, Ashlind (Joseph) Bray, Miles and Mena Mitchell, Owen, Wyatt, Cole, Bella and Leo Mitchell, and Braxton Bowman; siblings, Karen Fisher and Bill (Melody) Bowman; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Paul Fisher. Services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at White Branch Church of the Brethren with Pastor Brian Mackie officiating. Burial will follow in Brick Cemetery.

Visitation will be 3-8 PM Tuesday at the Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle and 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.
