David Claude Berrong, August 13, 1947 — February 19, 2018

Obituary for David Claude Berrong David C. Berrong, of Chandler, AZ peacefully left his earthly body on February 19, 2018. He was born August 13, 1947 to Margaret (Shupe) and Claude E. Berrong in Ogden, UT. He grew up on a ranch in Big Piney, WY where he learned the value of hard work and his love for all animals.

He married Thea Ann Clark in 1967. They later divorced. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, and later in the United States Marine Corps for more than 20 years, earning several decorations and an honorable discharge.

He retired to Arizona where he spent the next 26 years before his passing. He worked for a school district in Yuma, AZ which he said was one of the greatest things he ever did, being able to help teachers, staff and students alike. He officially retired in 2011 to enjoy “the good life”.

He enjoyed and was an extremely capable gardener. He enjoyed reading and watching his favorite old westerns and was always willing to try a new recipe in the kitchen. He also enjoyed the company of his family and his pets, who will all miss him dearly.

David was a caring and loving man, always willing to go out of his way to help family, friends, and those in need. David is survived by his Sister: Susan Locke; Children: Cindy Ann (Brad) Howard, David L. (Lisandra) Berrong, Parley Alan (Sophy) Berrong; Niece: Christie Locke; three grandchildren: David R., Anthony, Jacob Berrong; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his Parents and several Aunts and Uncles.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 9:30-10:30am at Provident Funeral Home 3800 Washington Blvd. , Ogden, UT with Graveside services to follow at 11:00am with full military honors at the Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden, UT. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to any animal shelter in memory of David.
