David’s Obituary David John Luetjen, 64, of Cole Camp, died Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at Jefferson City Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on March 22, 1954, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a son of Alfred Pete and Ida Rose Marie (Oelrichs) Luetjen. On April 25, 1954, he was baptized at First English Lutheran Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

After his father was discharged from the United States Army, they moved back to Cole Camp, Missouri, where David grew up. He was confirmed on June 2, 1968, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Pastor Saathoff and was a member of the Luther League as a young man. During high school, he worked on the wheat harvest and after graduating from Cole Camp High School in 1972, he attended Tri-County Tech in Eldon, completing the auto body program.

On February 18, 1978, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, he was united in marriage to Terrie Viebrock. This union was blessed with the gift of a son, Adam. He worked in auto body repair for WK Chevrolet in Cole Camp and Don’s Body Shop in Cole Camp, was body shop manager for Mike O’Conner Chevrolet-Buick-GMC in Sedalia, owned Dave’s Body Shop in Cole Camp and worked for Larry Woods in Cole Camp.

For a short time, he worked for Wilson’s Meat Packing in Marshall and then began work for Waterloo in Sedalia, retiring in 2016. He loved restoring old cars and judged several area car shows. He also enjoyed going fishing with Moose, attending Ozark Mountain Daredevils concerts, and reading history on the old West and was very artistic.

He was very proud of restoring his ground to native grasses and wildflowers, including paint brush and liatris. He is survived by his wife, Terrie Luetjen of the home; his son, Adam Luetjen of Cole Camp; three grandchildren, Emily, Ian, and Abigail; a sister, Shirley J. Newman and her husband Ron of Webb City; a sister-in-law, Tammy Johnson and her husband Rusty of Warsaw; two aunts, Violet Luetjen of Cole Camp and Joann Oelrichs of Mora; an uncle, Melvin Oelrichs and his wife Mary Ann of Mora; four nieces, Becky, Ashley, Danielle, and Brooklyn; and a nephew, Nick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Ida Luetjen, his aunt and uncle, Lilly and L. H. Wessel, and his uncles Vernon Oelrichs, Herbert Luetjen, and Harry Oelrichs.

Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 25, 2019, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Stephen Zeller officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to One Stitch at a Time in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp.
