Obituary for David “Mike” Broadus Retired SFC David M. Broadus, (aka Spike, and Sarge) 73, of Upton, passed away Monday June 11, 2018 at Hospice Health Care Center in Louisville. He was a 20 year U. S. Army Veteran where he served 2 tours in Vietnam and was a purple heart recipient. He retired from his second career as a military contractor at Hill Hall on Fort Knox after 26 years where he was a tank simulator instructor and electronics technician.

He was a member of Upton Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He had passion for mission work particularly for the children of Poland where he traveled on many occasions. He was preceded in death by his Parents, John Broadus, Mary M. Broadus Hastings.

He is survived by his loving Wife of 51 years, Carolyn Broadus of Upton, KY. Daughter and Son-In-Law, Julie (Tom) Perkins of Sonora, KY, two Grandchildren, Charlie Perkins of Sonora, KY, Allison Perkins of Lexington, KY, one Brother, John (Joann) Broadus of Madison, IN, three Sisters, Helen Smith of Burlington, KY, Jayne Allen of Protection, KS, Sue Hichew of Lyons, IL Funeral Services will be held Monday June 18, 2018 12:30 pm at Upton Baptist Church in Upton, KY With Rev. J.D. Shipp, and Mel Doughty officiating.

Burial will be held at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Visitation will be Sunday 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Manakee Funeral Home in Upton or Monday 10:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Upton Baptist Church Upton, Ky. The family request that the expressions of sympathy can be given to his Poland Ministry.
