David Summers age 68 of Smithville, passed away Monday evening, June 25, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Elbridge and Annie Odell Pedigo Summers; granddaughter, Olivia Taylor; mother-in-law, Shirley Southard. He attended the Experience in Murfreesboro, was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and was animal control with the City of Smithville.

David coached Little League and Senior League Baseball and Jr. Pro Basketball. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Monica Summers of Smithville; 3 children, Cindy (Ken) Taylor of Smithville, Travis (Ashley) Summers of Murfreesboro and Freddy Summers of Smithville; 4 grandchildren, Shauna, Abbi, and Kenlee Taylor and Devin Summers; 2 sisters, Barbara Summers of Gordonsville and Sue Petty of Smithville; 1 brother, Eddie (Jean) Summers of Watertown and several nephews and cousins. The family has honored David’s request to be cremated and there will be a Memorial Service 2 PM Thursday, June 28, 2018 at DeKalb Funeral Chapel with Bro.

Trent Colwell officiating. Visitation with the family will be on Thursday 10 AM until the time of the service at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to DeKalb Funeral Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
