David Michael Wachter, age 71, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018, at his home. David was born on February 27, 1947 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Reinder Wachter and Mary (Glozik) Wachter. David was a United States Air Force Veteran, who proudly served his county.

He was a faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City, IL. David graduated from S.I.U.E. earning his Bachelor degree.

He retired from Lanter Delivery Systems in Madison, IL, as an owner/operator truck driver after many years of dedicated service. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and he enjoyed going to games and watching them play on tv. David also enjoyed going to the movies with his friends.

He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with family and friends. David will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Joan Wachter of Goshen, KY; proud uncle to Michelle (Emil) Cave of Sulfer, KY and Susan (Tom) Gregory of Louisville, KY ; proud great-uncle to Ronald (Raine) Wallace, Michael Hart, Mason Gregory and Emma Gregory; extended family and many dear friends.

Memorial visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2019 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of his life, a memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, with Pastor Karla Frost officiating. Private interment will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to St. John United Church of Christ. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.
