Debbie Jones, lifelong resident of Augusta, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019. She was surrounded by her loved ones. She was 62 years of age.

Debbie was born November 5, 1956, daughter of Coy and Mollie Callahan Tate. She attended Augusta schools. In the summer of 1974, she met a dark haired new comer to town that folks called Kenny Wayne.

According to Debbie, that fall she asked that dark haired man to marry her, and of course he said yes. Debbie and Kenny were married December 30, 1974. Debbie graduated from Augusta High School in 1975 and started LPN school that fall.

After graduating LPN school, Debbie briefly worked at Woodruff County Hospital. Debbie then joined McCrory Clinic, where she spent years keeping Dr. Fred Wilson in line, giving the best shots, loving her patients, and perfecting her love of nursing. Debbie soon got the itch to further her education, so she went to ASU to become a Registered Nurse.

Debbie went to school and worked fulltime, all while taking care of her family. Debbie spent the rest of her nursing years working in home health, nursing homes and for the Office of Long Term Care. She truly loved her elderly patients.

Debbie loved her family and friends fiercely. Her greatest accomplishment in life, her driving force, was her daughter Alison. She never missed an opportunity to brag about her.

Debbie loved animals, flower gardens, cooking, playing cards, the beach, golf, and bossing her husband and daughter. She loved being “Mama Debbie” to all of Alison’s friends. Her kitchen was always open.
