Obituary for Delbert Long Delbert “JR” Long, 79 of Abilene passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born February 7, 1939 in Enterprise, the son of Delbert and Bernita (Johnston) Long. In 1983 he was united in marriage to Julia Bray in Salina.

She preceded him in death December 23, 2005. JR worked construction and as a mechanic. JR is survived by his two sisters, Edith Anderson and Shirley Alstrom and husband Sam.

One brother: Dale Long. Step-children: Terry Bisterfeldt, Tim Casto, Delbert McBroom JR and April Day and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his parents, loving wife Julia, two sisters, Darlene Ferguson and Fern Long, a nephew, Bobby Ferguson and Step-son Raymond Bisterfeldt.

A Graveside Service will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday April 28, 2018 at Detroit Cemetery in Detroit. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6-7 P.M., at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to Abilene Place.
