Delvada Hansel Hayes, 97, of Alexander passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. Born May 31, 1921 in Gaston County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Sidney Theodore Hansel and Luester Cole Hansel. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Alexander.

Among her many enjoyments in life, cooking, sewing, and gardening were all a close second to spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her spouse, Rex L. Hayes, and a grandson, Justin L. Hayes. Surviving are her children, Rick Hayes and his spouse, Michelle, of Charleston, SC, Ted Hayes and his spouse, Cindy, of Cumming, GA, Jane King and her spouse, Joe, and Janet Powell all of Alexander; eleven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.

The family would like to acknowledge one of her grandsons, Jason King, for the wonderful care that he helped to provide Mrs. Hayes over the years. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, 1468 Jenkins Valley Road, Alexander, NC 28701.
