DENA LYNN LYONS, age 55, of Washington CH, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 4:03 a.m. while surrounded by her family. She was born on February 6, 1963 in Fayette County to Ronald and Karen Riley Sockman. She was a 1982 graduate of Washington High School.

Dena had been employed at TFO in Jeffersonville. Dena was a loving and devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister. She enjoyed concerts, baseball games, feeding ducks with her family, and being part of any activity that her grandchildren were involved in.

Dena was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Bernice Sockman; and maternal grandparents, Ross and Laura Riley. Survivors include her parents; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley Nicole and Phillip Jr. Groves; grandchildren, Cameron Groves, Anthony Groves, Alex Groves, and McKenna Groves; siblings, Ronald Jr. (Kelly) Sockman, Richard (Karey) Sockman, Chris (Amy) Sockman, and Michael (Donna) Sockman; nieces and nephews, Wade, Courtney, Kristen, Laura, Cole, Ashley, and Jake; and special friend, Tonya Pendergraft. Also surviving are aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Justice officiating with burial to follow at the Highlawn Cemetery.
