Obituary for Diane L. Melton Freeland, Michigan Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare-Cooper Campus. Age 65 years. The daughter of the late James Beeker and Vera (McFate) Hammerbacher, Diane was born on August 22, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan.

She married Thomas Melton on May 6, 1977. He survives her. Diane graduated from Delta’s College of Nursing in 1984.

She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital Open Heart Unit until her retirement in 1997. Diane was a member and Server at Messiah Lutheran Church in Midland. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, painting and shopping with her daughter and granddaughter.

Surviving besides her husband Tom are one daughter Kassandra (Douglas) Kramer, Freeland; her granddaughter, Alexandra Melton, Freeland; her siblings, James (Angel) Beeker, Aurora, Colorado; Deborah Hammerbacher, Saginaw; Joni Hammerbacher, Saginaw; Julie Hammerbacher, Saginaw; Lori Van Wormer, Bay City; a brother-in-law, James Melton, Bay City; many nieces and nephews. Diane was preceded in death by her step-father, Walter Hammerbacher. Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 1550 S. Poseyville Rd.

Pastor Ed Doerner will officiate with interment to follow in West Side Cemetery in Freeland. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. , (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
