Obituary for Dolores B. Forman Dolores Browne Forman, a life-long resident of Beacon, died on November 19, 2018 surrounded by her loving family, from complications due to Alzheimer’s Disease. Dolores was born on May 15, 1931, the daughter of James Michael and Helen Flynn Browne. Dolores attended St. Joachim’s Elementary School, Mount St. Mary’s High School, and was a graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Poughkeepsie, New York.

She was a Registered Nurse and worked at St. Francis Hospital (Poughkeepsie) in OB-GYN. On September 11, 1954 she married Thomas T. Forman, Jr. at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Beacon. The couple then moved to Hamilton, New York where Tom finished his senior year at Colgate University and Dolores worked at Hamilton Hospital.

Upon Tom’s graduation from Colgate they moved back to Beacon where they lived for 56 years. It was in Beacon that Dolores and Tom raised their eight children. In 1998 Tom and Dolores became “Snowbirds” and lived six months in Chandler, Arizona and 6 months in Beacon.

Dolores is survived by her 8 children: Peter and his wife Anne, of Beacon; Thomas (Tucker) of Chandler, Arizona; Patricia Clark and her husband Earl of Phoenix, Arizona; Susan of Mesa, Arizona; James and his wife Caroline of Ossining; John of Hopewell Junction; Andrew and his wife Christine of Beacon, and Paul of Fishkill. Dolores will be missed by her grandchildren: Kathryn Ortiz (Marcellinus), Maureen Forman (Chris Koester), Rebecca Forman, Andrew J. Forman II, Matthew Forman, Alexandra (Ally) Forman, Nicole Forman, Olivia Forman, Ava Francese, Jack Francese and great granddaughters, Maeve and Ysolt Ortiz. Dolores is also survived by her brother, Gerald Browne and his wife Cindy of Fishkill and her sister, Kathleen Browne Carhart of Poughkeepsie.

She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Dolores was predeceased by her husband, Tom and her brother James Edward Browne. Dolores was a parishioner of St. Joachim-St. John’s in Beacon.

To say Dolores loved St. John’s Parish is an understatement! Dolores was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church. She was a member of the Parish Council, Women’s Club, and the Vicariate Council of Dutchess County representing St. John’s Parish.

Dolores was the first woman in the parish to become a Eucharistic Minister and she was also a CCD Teacher. Dolores loved her family as well as her many friends both in New York and Arizona. She also loved helping others in any way she could.

For years, Dolores and Tom (and their family) shared their home with many guests during the summer from the Fresh Air Fund as well as a few boys from Belfast, Ireland. Dolores also loved vacationing on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Our family continues this tradition when possible.

Tom and Dolores were also partial co-owners of Sylvan Lake Beach Park in Hopewell Junction. They spent many weekends and summers there enjoying the peacefulness of Sylvan Lake. We would like to thank Dolores’s relatives, friends, caregivers, medical staff, and even the strangers she met along the way who helped her on her journey home.
