Obituary for Dolores R. Meleski Dolores R. Meleski, Saginaw, Michigan. Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend passed away Monday, October 29, 2018. Daughter of the late Frank and Tillie (Martek) Covaleski, Dolores was born in Bay City, Michigan.

She was married to Leonard A. Meleski, her loving husband of 59 years at St. Stanislaus Kostra Church. He survives her. Dolores was a spirited person who always had a ready smile, liked a good time with lots of laughter and had a quick wit.

Dolores was employed as a Bell Telephone operator, a sales person of Avon Cosmetics, a Beeline Fashion design clothing representative, a salesperson of the World Book Encyclopedia, a switchboard operator at St. Lukes Hospital and retired as a banker from Second National Bank (Citizens Bank). Dolores was a 51 year member of Holy Spirit Parish in Saginaw where she was elected to the first Parish Council after Vatican II. She also served as a Religious Education Teacher and was one of the first women liturgical lectors.

After retirement, Dolores enjoyed motor homing across the country in the winter visiting her children and their families in Georgia and California and social friends in Louisiana, Texas and Arizona. She also liked spending summers camping at Silver Lake in Traverse City and enjoying the surrounding area, especially the annual Polka Mass in the village of Cedar. A highlight of one of her first early travels was being chosen as a contestant for the NBC-TV Show, “Eye Guess”, in New York City hosted by Bill Cullen.

She went on to win the show and prizes which included a trip to Spain. Back home and also while traveling, Dolores loved celebrating life, cooking huge and delicious meals for her five children and their families. Caring for her flower beds and reading downloaded books on her Kindle were added moments of joy.

Surviving besides her husband Leonard are three daughters and two sons, Linda and Brian Wolpert; Kevin and Katherine (Kost) Meleski and their children, Mitchell, Luke and Kendall; Denise McBroom and her sons, Austin, Garrett and Hunter; Jeannine and Jerry Loy and their sons, Justin and Jerett; Kip and Miranda (Skula) Meleski and their children, Cal and Alaina; her sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Cliff Fick; a sister-in-law, Nancy Meleski; many nieces and nephews. Dolores was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Mary Jane (Urban) Covaleski; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Casimir and Victoria (Kasprzyk) Meleski and brother-in-law, Larry Meleski. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd.

Peter J. Gaspeny will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may visit at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.

A Vigil Service will take place 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Spirit Parish or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
