FISHERS – Don McKee, of Fishers, Indiana, died on February 10, 2019 at the age of 73. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and was the oldest to two siblings, Rita Hicks and Kenneth McKee, who both preceded him in death. Don grew up in Greenfield, Indiana and graduated from Hancock Central High School in 1963.

He attended Purdue University where he earned a BS in agricultural economics in 1968 and his master’s in agricultural economics in 1972. Don was a member of Farm House Fraternity while at Purdue. He joined the Army Reserves in college and retired as the commanding officer at the base in Lafayette, Indiana.

He enjoyed a long career in commercial real estate appraisal, devoting his career to complex and unique projects. He loved his work and the many colleagues he had in the appraisal community. Don had a multitude of interests.

Purdue Boilermaker Football was his favorite sport. He was an avid reader, especially historical non-fiction. He loved all types of music and enjoyed musicals and operas.

His favorite vacation spot was Hot Springs, Arkansas where his mother, Opal McKee, lived for many years. He enjoyed boating and swimming on nearby Lake Ouachita. He also enjoyed traveling in Europe with his family and had recently taken a trip to Israel to see the Holy Lands with friends.

He is survived by his son Mark McKee of Atlanta, Georgia, his wife Courtney and sons Ben and Grayson; and daughter Sarah Ricci of Atlanta, Georgia, her husband Cliff and daughters Vivienne and Magnolia; and son Jeff McKee of Evansville, Indiana; and best friend Jay Jones of Greenfield, Indiana and the Jones’ family who he considered his own family. He will be deeply missed by his children, family, friends, and colleagues. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 15, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy.

40, Greenfield, Indiana 46140. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Pastor Hubert Nolan will be officiating.

Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton with military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
