Donald Fritchie December 31, 2018 Donald G Fritchie Sr passed away peacefully in his sleep December 31st, 2018. He was born in Columbia MS on October 5th, 1937 to Charles J. Fritchie Sr and Ethel A. Fritchie. Don spent his childhood in Slidell LA where he was an avid athlete and excelled at football, basketball, and baseball.

He was an All-State running back for Slidell High School where he also was named “Mr. Slidell High” his senior year. Don went on to the University of Mississippi on a football scholarship where he earned his degree in Civil Engineering and met his future wife. After graduating from college, Don joined Texaco as a civil engineer working at their Tulsa OK location.

Don married Linda Street Fritchie and had two sons; Donald Glenn Fritchie Jr and Dr. John Ashley Fritchie. The family moved to Baton Rouge LA in 1965. Don founded Tools, Sales, and Rentals in 1976 which he grew into a very successful enterprise until his recent retirement in 2017.

He relished watching his sons play sports and going hunting and fishing together. Don was a compassionate person who never met a stranger and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His love of life was contagious as was his smile and ‘how are you doing’ greeting and handshake.

Don was a man of God who served others and truly loved his country. Don was preceded in death by his father, mother, his brothers Dr. Charles J. Fritchie Jr. and Lee A. Fritchie, his former wife Linda S Fritchie, and his son Dr. John A. Fritchie. He is survived by Donald G. Fritchie Jr and wife Darlene L Fritchie, and his three grandchildren; Blayne Fritchie, Blaire Fritchie Brezina, and Annelise Fritchie.

Funeral services will be held at Honaker Funeral Home in Slidell LA on Saturday, January 12th. Visitation will be from 10-11am and the Funeral Death: December 31, 2018 service will follow. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of choice in loving memory of Donald G Fritchie.
