Madison – Donald H. Beck, age 92, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at Alexian Village in Milwaukee. He was born on December 27, 1925 in Waunakee, WI the son of Andrew and Mary (Hausner) Beck. He graduated from Spring Green High School in 1944.

Don proudly served in the United States Army in Japan following WWII. After the service, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Kinsman on September 11, 1948. Don completed a course at the University of Wisconsin to train as an artificial insemination technician for dairy cows.

He worked in the field for over 40 years with Tri-State Breeders Cooperative (Accelerated Genetics) of Westby and Baraboo. During his long career, Don bred over 200,000 cows, which was an unequaled career achievement in the field. He is survived by his son, Russell (Lisa) Beck; daughter, Jeanne “Cookie” Beck; grandchildren, Sashell and Brandon (Andrea) Beck; great grandson, Jacob Beck; brother, Dick (Pat) Beck and many other nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, granddaughter, Miranda Beck and sisters, Helene, Dolores, Elaine and Lucille. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 401 S. Owen Drive, Madison, WI 53711, with Msgr. Kenneth Fiedler officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona, WI 53593. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society.
