Donald H. Samz April 15, 1938 – January 21, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Donald H. Samz, age 80, of 914 S. Main St. Mishicot, died peacefully Monday, January 21, 2019, at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, surrounded by his loving family. Donald was born in Two Rivers on April 15, 1938, to Leo and Marcella (Funk) Samz. He graduated from Washington High School with the Class of 1956.

After graduating, he worked for the Metal Ware Corp. before joining the U.S. Army in 1957. Don received his honorable discharge in 1959 and returned to work at the Metal Ware Corporation.

Donny was also employed with Mirro Aluminum, Hamilton’s, Manitowoc Engineering, and drove oil truck for a short period of time. On May 12, 1962, he married Gloria Petska at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Two Rivers. In 1967, he bought his parents dairy farm in the Town of Two Rivers.

Donald and Gloria farmed until the year 2000, when they sold the farm, retired, and moved to Mishicot. Donald will be remembered for his strong work ethic – he wasn’t one to sit still for long. Some favorite past times included playing sheepshead (with their card club and family), bowling, fishing when he had time, and traveling to watch his grandchildren play sports or perform in dance and plays.

He was a huge Wisconsin sports fan who enjoyed the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. Donald and Gloria have been longtime members of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Gloria; his children: Cheri (David) Sylla of Brookfield, Dawn (Roy) Wendt of Green Bay, Michael (Sarah) Samz of Two Rivers, Tina (Mike) Beulow of Muskego and Carrie (Todd) McMahon of Appleton.

He is the proud Grandpa to eleven grandchildren: Wesley (Sarah), Eric, Brian (Becky), Kevin (Melissa), Abby, Samantha, Ethan, Savannah, Cadence, Keira and Addyson. He is further survived by two sisters: Gloria Schmidt, and Carol (Wayne) Mertens, all of Manitowoc; one sister-in-law, Beverly (Bernard) Nowicki of Mequon; a brother-in-law, Eugene Petska of Green Bay; along with nine nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Marcella Samz; a son, David Samz; mother & father-in-law, Viola and Eugene Petska; brother-in-law, Jerry Schmidt; and a sister-in-law, Bonnie Petska.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 25, 2019, at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd. , Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev.

Tom Reynebeau, with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Two Rivers. Military graveside honors will be accorded at the church immediately following the mass by members of American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at the church Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
