Donald L. Fletcher, 81, of Bardstown, passed away Thursday June 21, 2018 at University of Louisville Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born March 12, 1937 in Paducah, retired Detective with Kentucky State Police and Bardstown City School System Transportation Department, United States Army Veteran, former district commissioner and assistant Scout Master for Boy Scouts of America, coached Little League baseball and softball, assistant coach of Bardstown Tigers Baseball Team, past president of Bardstown High School Band Boosters, and Deacon and member of Bardstown Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cary and Clara Fletcher; four brothers, Alvin, Charles, James, and Glenn Fletcher; and three sisters, Leona Gibson, Mildred Hodges, and Emogene Layton.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Fletcher; three children, Lynn (Donald) Howard both of Bardstown, David (Marian) Fletcher of Medina, Ohio, and Cary (Carolee) Fletcher of Wyckoff, New Jersey; six grandchildren, Adam Wright, Katie (Jonathan) Mattingly, Logan Fletcher, Anna Fletcher, Jack Fletcher, and Sam Fletcher; one great-grandson, Ethan Mattingly; and several nieces and nephews. His funeral service will be 1:30 pm Monday June 25, 2018 at Bardstown Baptist Church, with burial in Bardstown Cemetery. Dr. Randal Pollock and Rev.

Stan Lowerey will officiate. Visitation will be 1 to 6 pm Sunday June 24 and 11 am to 12:45 pm Monday June 25 at Barlow Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may go to Bardstown Baptist Church or Barktown Rescue or Children’s Sunrise Services.
