Obituary for Donald Leroy Courtyne Donald Leroy Courtney, age 92, a former resident of the Town of Arietta, passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation in Gloversville. He was born on April 30, 1926 in the Town of Arietta. The son of the late; Lloyd W. and Marion Olmstead Courtney.

Donald was a United States Merchant Marine serving from 1944 to 1946. He was a lifetime area resident and retired from the Town of Arietta Highway Department. He was an avid outdoorsman, trapping, fishing, hunting and gunsmithing.

He loved “tinkering” with small engines and “puttering” around the garage. He also took great pride in the appearance of his yard. He also worked for the Department of Environmental Conservation at The Fire tower on T Lake Mountain.

Survivor include his son; William Queitsch of Texas. He was predeceased by his brother; Welwyn Courtney. A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Higgins Bay Cemetery, Higgins Bay Road, Piseco, NY.
