Donald Leroy Vessels, age 84 of Hardinsburg, KY died Friday, 3-15-2019 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born in Ammons, KY on December 26, 1934, the son of the late Charles Leo and Anna Lucille Yates Vessels. As a child, he attended Mass at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Rhodelia.

After moving to the Hardinsburg area, he attended St. Romuald Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Donald was a veteran of the United States Army. He had many interests that include being outdoors, hunting, fishing, volleyball and playing card games.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary Jane Hammond, Charles Leo Vessels, Jr and a stillborn brother. He is survived by his wife Mary Oelze Vessels of Hardinsburg, KY 4 children: Don Vessels and his wife Karen of McQuady, KY Mike Vessels of Hardinsburg, KY Paula Conner and her husband Gary of Hardinsburg, KY Sandra Zanone and her husband Steve of Lexington, KY 7 grandchildren:Lindsay Vessels-Perry and her husband Andrew, Daniel Vessels, Sarah Bray, Emily Conner, Megan Conner, Katie Zanone and Abby Zanone 8 great grandchildren: Juniper Annagail Perry, Sebastian Kade Shaw, Raylan and Kason Bray, Logan Farris, Addy and Paislee Lucas, Zane Conner 2 sisters – Judy Early of Louisville, KY Linda Mull of Cady, Texas Funeral services will be held at St. Romuald Catholic Church on Tuesday, 3-19-2019 at 12 PM with Fr. Tony Jones officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Tuesday after 9:30 AM. Expressions of sympathy are suggested to St. Romuald School.
