Obituary for Donald William Dickey Donald W. Dickey, 83, formerly of Marietta, Georgia died peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, September 21, 2018. Donald’s story is one of a life well lived. He met and married his beautiful Nan over 64 years ago.

And during that time, built a family of 4 by adding a daughter, Donette, in 1955 and a son, Bill, in 1958. Their family was further expanded with the marriages of their children – Donette to Larry Arcos, and Bill to Marie Dickey, who they welcomed and loved as their own. They are the proud Grandparents of 5 Grandchildren – Heather Britt, Lindsay Dickey, Derrick Dickey, Jonathan Arcos and Joseph Arcos.

And they are equally as proud to be the Great Grandparents of 5 Great Grand Children – Jackson and Finn Arcos, Austin and Dylan Britt, and Reaghan Dickey. Don and Nan have been greatly loved by Don’s brother, Douglas Dickey and wife Jo from North Carolina. Don devoted his entire career to Western Electric where he retired from management after 35 years of service.

They found their forever church home at St. Stephen United Methodist Church shortly after their move to Marietta and have been actively devoted to their loving church family for over 33 years with Don serving as Trustee. Don’s love for fishing and family were shared with his love for his church and charitable organizations working with veterans and children…. and we certainly don’t want to exclude his love of a good Waffle House breakfast.

The staff of Dogwood Forest Assisted Living in Grayson became Don and Nan’s extended family this year. There are not words to express the family’s love and gratitude for the excellent care and love provided by all of the staff. The family wishes to also express extreme gratitude to the staff of Bridgeway Hospice for their wonderful and loving care in his final days.

A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 11AM on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Marietta, Ga. Interment at Georgia National Cemetery immediately following.
