Obituary for William Lovejoy Bothwell William (Bill) Lovejoy Bothwell passed away peacefully on September 19,2018 at the age of 88 years old. Mr. Bothwell is survived by his daughter, Jill Braswell and her husband, Whit Braswell of Griffin, Ga. ; Grandchildren; Brittney Frye, Kevin Bothwell, Melissa Braswell, Julia Braswell, Joe Braswell, and Hannahbrooke Bothwell.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sims Bothwell and his sons, Joe Bothwell and Jim Bothwell. Bill Bothwell was born on September 22, 1929 in Decatur, Ga. to Charles and Julia Bothwell.

He was also the step son to Mr. Marion “Jack” Jackson, whom was more than just a step-father. Bill graduated from Marietta High School in 1946. After High School he attended Southern Polytechnic College and graduated with a degree in Engineering, during that time he served in the Air National Guard for almost 2 years.

After graduating, he worked at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics as a mechanical engineer and retired after 33 years. In retirement, he was able to enjoy over 25 years living part time in his beloved Islamorada, Florida at the home he and his wife built. Bill was a talented radio control airplane builder and flyer in which he won many awards for his scale models.

He shared his talent with many over the years. Bill loved boating on the lake or ocean and taking family and friends on the waters. He was a skilled fisherman and loved nothing more than to fish and snorkel the bright blue waters of the Florida Keys.

He enjoyed even more sharing his beloved Florida Keys with family and friends throughout his life. Bill believed in making memories to last. He made great memories for many; rather it was through building a plane or a sandcastle, attending an airshow, body boarding the ocean waves or fishing.

He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many and will be greatly missed. A Graveside funeral service is scheduled for 12:00pm at Kennesaw Memorial Park Cemetery in conjunction with Mayes Ward Dobbins Funeral Home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill Bothwell’s life.
