Obituary for Ester L. Barnett Ester L. Barnett, 91, of Powder Springs, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Mark Barnett. Ester is survived by her daughter, Kay Cottone of Marietta, GA; son David Barnett(Deborah); brother, Giorgio Cecchini(Giuliana) of Trieste, Italy; grandsons, Andy Collier(Michelle) of Anderson, SC, Danny Collier(Shea) of Acworth, GA, & Matthew Barnett of Canton, GA; and multiple great-grandchildren.

Ester was born and raised in Trieste, Italy in 1927. She survived the German occupation during WWII and worked in Northern Italy as an interpreter for the American Red Cross. It was during this time she met her husband Mark.

While 7 months pregnant, Ester made the long journey from Italy to the United States by boat, to join her husband. It was a long hard trip for her, as she spent most of her time not feeling well. After coming to the states, Ester and Mark raised two loving children who describe their mother as a character who loved her family.

Her loving presence will be forever missed. Family is requesting that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Ester’s name to St. Jude’s children’s research hospital @ www. stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.
