Obituary for William Stanhope Munro WILLIAM STANHOPE MUNRO “A HEART IS NOT JUDGED BY HOW MUCH YOU LOVE; BUT BY HOW MUCH YOU ARE LOVED BY OTHERS” William Stanhope Munro passed into peace on Friday October 26, 2018. He was 86 years old and the beloved father of four children, nine grandsons, and nine great grandchildren. He adored each and every one of them and they all knew it full well.

His ever-present love, joy and pride in their accomplishments surrounded and bolstered them. It was his strong sense of responsibility to his family that led him to drive a truck to support their physical needs. It took tremendous personal resolve to steadfastly endure the endless monotony and dangers of the road.

He nearly lost his life early in his career, yet he fought back from serious injury and went on to drive for another 35 years. By his example his children learned that hard work, determination, honesty, and striving for excellence would lead to success for themselves and their families. The fruits of his labor were recognized upon his retirement when he received a commendation from his employer for having driven over three million miles with no accidents.

That’s over six trips to the moon and back. At 62 years old he retired and spent the next 26 years on his land enjoying his horses, mules, chickens, baling hay, and listening to his old-time music. But above all else, it was his tremendous capacity to love that defined him as a man.

Everyone who knew him loved him and was the beneficiary of his love, kindness and quick wit. He had a way of making you feel like you were extraordinary. This remarkable man will truly be missed.

He is survived his children, Cindy Munro Lyle (Lawrence Lyle), Phil Munro (Leigh Ann), Becky Nation (Forest Nation) and Paul Munro (Renee Munro) and his grandchildren, William Munro Thompson, Tyler Munro Thompson, Ben Munro, Thomas Munro, Mason Costa, Marcus Costa, Daniel Burfield, Brent Munro, & Case Munro and his great-grandchildren, twins: Caleigh Ann & Camden Munro, Aaron Munro, Tallulah Munro Thompson, twins: Evie Rule & May Munro Thompson, Silas Burfield, Ellie Munro, & Henry Munro Thompson To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of William Stanhope Munro please visit our Sympathy Store.
