Donald Brancheau died peacefully in his Carmel home on November 10, 2018, at the age of 97. Don was a retired laboratory technician. He worked for many years with his friend, Dr. James Fassett, at the Gonzales Medical Clinic.

Don was born August 2, 1921 to the late Francis (Frank) Brancheau and Seraphine (Sarah) Brancheau, in Detroit, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his brothers Elton Brancheau, Raymond Brancheau and sister Marie Brancheau Green, from the Detroit, Michigan area. His sister Lorraine Brancheau, a retired medical transcriber, died in Salinas in 1993.

Don is survived by his nephew, Lynn Brancheau, of Warren, Michigan. Don served in the US Army during World War II, where he learned his laboratory skills. He received an honorable discharge in 1948 and moved to California shortly thereafter.

In his later years he enjoyed playing golf, tennis and bowling with his friends from the Salinas and Carmel valleys. Visitation will be held 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.

Don supported both Hospice and the SPCA of Monterey County. Memorials may be given to these organizations or the donor’s favorite charity.
