Wayne H. McPherson passed away peacefully, December 8, 2018, at Sunrise Senior Living Retirement Home in Salinas, California. He was 92 years old. One of five children, Wayne was born to Joe and Eula Mae McPherson on October 31, 1926, in Davis Oklahoma.

The family relocated to Salinas when Wayne was six years old. He continued to live there for the remainder if his life. Wayne attended Salinas High School where he excelled in the sport of boxing which continued throughout his college career at Hartnell, and also during his service with the United States Navy.

After the navy, Wayne began his career as a General Contractor at the age of 22. Over the span of his career he built hundreds of homes in the Salinas Valley. In addition to homes he built churches, office buildings, and condominiums.

He built the first planned unit development in Salinas in the 1960’s. Over the course of his lifetime, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, breeding and training dogs, waterskiing, dancing, and golf. Wayne leaves behind two daughters, Maureen O’Brien and Kathleen Cook; six stepdaughters, Rhonda Miller, Denise Silva, Donna Silvey, Linda Swick, Barbi Dormody, and Gloria Dougherty; and stepson Tim Swick; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Per Wayne’s request, there will be no services.
