Ana Penafiel Jorvina passed away at the age of 98 on December 10, 2018 at her long time home in Salinas. She was born April 15, 1920 in Ormoc City, Philippines to Francisco and Mamerta Jimpas Penafiel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Mamerto (2002), grandsons David Jorvina (1998) and Michael Onciano (2007) and daughter-in-law Fe Jorvina (2015).

Ana is survived by her children, Emiliano, Josephine Onciano, Anita Jeffrey, Cora, Elizabeth Proctor and Mamerto; grandchildren, Roland (Petra) and Ronald Jorvina; Erik (Michele) and Brent (Alofagia) Onciano; Richard Lambert (Rosemary), Alyssa, Sabrina (Charles) and Jarrod (Bethany) Jeffrey; Janine (soon Ackerman) (Anthony) and Jonathan (Carolina) Proctor; great grandchildren, Mariealaina, Roland Jr. (Annette) and Brandon (Simone) Jorvina; Anthony, Ellis and Maxwell Onciano; Tre Johnson; Mikaele and Manamea Onciano; Rikayla Lambert; Michael Jeffrey; Zariah Jeffrey; Hunter and Hannah Ackerman; Samuel Reyes; and great great grandchild Ronan Jorvina. Ana and Mamerto married in 1945. Ana’s life revolved around the family after traveling by ship in 1956 to the United States with five young children in tow.

The family settled in Salinas where she developed friendships and club memberships with many other wives of soldiers of the 1st and 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments of the U S Army. With Mamerto deployed overseas for many years, Ana balanced raising the children with working various jobs to provide for their children. She doted on her grandchildren, cooking all their favorite foods, and was delighted to watch as each new generation was born.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to an organization to be announced later. Rosary vigil will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, California 93901. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.

Burial services will be held immediately afterwards at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, California 93901.
