Donna L. Bruni New Kensington Donna L. Bruni, 76, of New Kensington, died Monday, July 2, 2018, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Cabot. The beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away peacefully following a brief but courageous battle against cancer. She was born April 25, 1942, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Donald J. and Mary Elizabeth (Hurd) Connors.

An Irish girl from the “Rocks,” Donna was a 1960 graduate of Mount Mercy Academy and a 1964 graduate of Duquesne University. She was a case worker at Allegheny County Children and Youth Services until she met her husband, Angelo, and they moved to New Kensington, where they raised their seven children. Donna was an avid reader and a collector of charms, cats and Marian art work.

She loved engaging people in philosophical conversations over maple rolls and cold Pepsi and was famous for her blintzes and potato salad. Deeply devoted to her faith, Donna was a parishioner at Mt. Saint Peter Church and one of the founding members of “The Rosies,” a group of women who for more than a decade met weekly to pray the rosary together.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Samuel F. Bruni. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Angelo G. Bruni Sr., of New Kensington; sons, Angelo G. Bruni Jr., of New Kensington, Anthony D. (Kellie) Bruni, of New Kensington, Vincent N. Bruni, of New Kensington, and Benjamin M. (Jennifer) Bruni, of Plum; daughters, Rachel C. (Frank) Beaudry, of Ottawa, and Christina L. (Christopher) Bolcato, of Natrona Heights; 14 grandchildren; and daughters-in-law, Nancy Bruni and Erin Moore Bruni; also survived by nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the GIUNTA-BERTUCCI FUNERAL HOME INC.

St. Peter Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Lower Burrell. Donna’s family would like to thank Allegheny Valley Hospital, Concordia Lutheran Ministries, Good Samaritan Hospice and New Kensington Fire Department Ambulance Service for the outstanding, compassionate care given to their mother.
