Doris’ Obituary Doris Catherine Ehmen, 91 of Paxton, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Monday, February 11, 2019, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 16, 2019, at First Lutheran Church, 301 S. College, Paxton will Rev. Debra Domeier officiating.

Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Loda. Visitation will be two hours prior to the funeral service from 12-2 p.m. Saturday at the church. Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton is handling arrangements.

Doris was born June 11, 1927 on a farm in rural Paxton a daughter of Orville W. and Grace Scott Foster. She married Alfred Emil Ehmen September 29, 1946 at the home of her parent’s in rural Paxton. He preceded her in death April 11, 2003.

She is survived by two sons, James (Gayle) Ehmen of rural Paxton, Douglas (Leah) Ehmen of Cloverdale, Indiana; two daughters, Deborah Kay (Ray) Dixon of Forest City, North Carolina, Sherryl (Tom) Janowski of Paxton; ten grandchildren, Josh (Jessica) Ehmen, Luke Ehmen, Hillary (Justin) Brower, Seth (Erica) Tudor, Kendra (Jeff) Schroder, Kaitlyn Grace (Ryan Howes) Ecker, Trevor Ehmen, Taylor (Joshua) King, Noah Ehmen, Hannah Ehmen; and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and nine brothers and sisters. Doris graduated from Paxton High School in 1945.

Along with being a full-time homemaker, she was a receptionist for Dr. W. W. Sauer for several years and a home-health aid for Ford-Iroquois Public Health for a number of years. She spent all but seven years in the Paxton area. During 1946-53, she and her family lived in Fort Smith Arkansas.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Loda and in the last few years attended First Lutheran Church, Paxton. Doris was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Loda, Ladies Aid, Home Extension and the Putt Club. Doris enjoyed sewing, crocheting, being outdoors and camping, gardening and canning with her family and raising african violets.

She was an excellent seamstress and a wonderful cook and baker. Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Loda, First Lutheran Church Johnson fund for music supplies or an organization of the donor’s choice. Condolences may be offered at www.
