Doris Foltz June 07, 1929 – April 04, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guest Book Entries| Send Sympathy Card Doris Mary (Eisenmenger) Foltz, age 88, Rosholt, SD, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Tekakwitha Living Center in Sisseton, SD. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, April 10, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rosholt with Father Gregg Frankman, Father Jerome Ranek and Monsignor Mike Foltz officiating. Music will be provided by organist Lana Sand and vocalists Cindy Marohl and Tim Foltz.

Burial will be in the St. Nicholas Cemetery, Rosholt. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Paul Foley, Joe Foley, Dan Foley, Peter Foley, Mike Hagen, Ben Matlon, Ryan Foltz, and Zach Foltz. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Eggers Funeral Home in Rosholt.

A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will continue Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Doris was born on June 7, 1929, to Mark and Florence (Steffes) Eisenmenger of Humphrey, NE.

She was the oldest of six children. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Doris was a socially outgoing girl who was a cheerleader and valedictorian of her graduating class at St. Francis.

On November 16, 1948, Doris was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wilfred Foltz, with whom she shared nearly 70 years of love and devotion. This union resulted in eight children, 24 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. Early in their marriage, Doris and Wilfred migrated north to Minnesota and then settled in Rosholt, SD.

In addition to raising her family, Doris worked at the Rosholt Nursing Home from age 50-80, a job she truly enjoyed. Doris was an excellent homemaker and an outstanding seamstress, sewing many clothes for herself and her children, and even reupholstering her own furniture. She always had a huge garden and did a lot of canning.

She was also well known for her homemade rolls, doughnuts, and pies. Doris was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society and as a lector. Her faith was always central to her life.

Doris taught religious education for many years. She always said that she chose Wilfred as her spouse because of his strong faith, and knew that they would help each other on the path to heaven. After retirement, Doris and Wilfred enjoyed traveling together with their RV.

They spent winters primarily in Texas and Arizona. Their wanderings traversed through 47 of the 50 states, including especially memorable trips to Alaska and Hawaii. Doris and Wilfred loved to play cards and dance, and Doris especially loved playing bridge.

She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. Survivors include her beloved husband Wilfred; and children: Sandy (Pat) Foley of West St. Paul, MN, Steve (Jeanne) Foltz of Oak Creek, WI, Karen (Mark) Hagen of Detroit Lakes, MN, Ron (Liana) Foltz of Watertown, SD, Cindy (Mark) Marohl of Sisseton, SD, Tim (April) Foltz of Detroit Lakes, MN, Kristi (Steve) Matlon of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Sheri (Mark) Willrodt of Austin, MN; 24 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 siblings: Lenore (Ray) Wemhoff, John (Bernie) Eisenmenger, Dan Eisenmenger, Ann (Ron) Denkinger, and Rita (Milo) Herink; and 3 sisters-in-law: Dorothy Wessel, Sr. Valeria Foltz, and Philomae Zabawa. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Mark and Florence Eisenmenger; her parents-in-law, Stephen and Mary Foltz; brothers-in-law: Henry, Alfred, Paul, Joseph, William, Clem, and Stan Foltz; and sisters-in-law: Ludwina Foltz, Eleanor (Foltz) Eisenmenger, and Kay Eisenmenger.
