Obituary for Doris “Dodie” Boyer (Berndt) Doris I. “Dodie” (Berndt) Boyer, 88, of North Huntingdon died Monday July 16, 2018 in the UPMC East Monroeville. She was born February 13, 1930 in Lake Geneva, WI. a daughter of the late George and Mary (Rahn) Berndt.
Prior to her retirement she was employed as a secretary for the Norwin School District. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Holy Trinity, in Irwin and the Women of The Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and member and past president of the Faith Circle and the Garden Club. Dodie also volunteered at the Norwin Public Library and Meals on Wheels in the Norwin area.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Verl J. Boyer and a brother Robert Berndt and a sister Marion Byrnes. Surviving are two sons, David J. Boyer and his wife, Linda, of Lancaster and Jeffrey Boyer and his wife, Rhonda, of Kittrell, NC; two grandchildren Jay Scott Boyer and Brittney Elmore and her husband, Bobby; two great grandchildren Blaire and Brett Elmore and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm Friday at the Ott Funeral Home, Inc., 805 Pennsylvania Avenue, Irwin.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, Irwin. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Norwin Area Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 80 Irwin, PA 15642 or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 502 Main Street, Irwin, PA 15642. Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Cemetery Irwin.
