Doris’ Obituary Doris Lee (Fosdick) Stice, 79, of rural Parsons, went to be with the Lord, on Wednesday morning, January 30, 2019, surrounded by her loving husband and children after a courageous five-year battle with cancer. She was born July 18, 1939 in Chetopa, Kansas to Claude and Ruth (Wright) Fosdick. Doris grew up and attended school in Chetopa graduating in 1956.
She enjoyed gathering with old friends and classmates at annual alumni functions. On November 22, 1956, she and Kenneth R. Stice were married at the Christian Church in Chetopa. They made their first home in Wichita, Kansas.
The couple also lived in Coffeyville before making their home in Parsons in 1963. In December 1969, Doris and her husband started SEK Auto Sales. Doris was the chief executive officer and bookkeeper until the couple retired in 2009 after having invested 40 years of their lives into their business.
Doris attended Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons. For many years, she was active in the Elks Auxiliary. She and her husband enjoyed traveling with the Neosho Valley Good Sam Club and the Kansas Twisters.
The couple especially enjoyed taking many trips with great friends throughout the years. Many weekends were spent with family and friends at Grand Lake where the couple maintained a lake home. Doris was actively involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
She took great pride in each and every one of them. Survivors include: Her loving husband of 62 years – Kenneth Stice, of the home Two Sons – Greg (Lanette) Stice of Parsons, KS David (Terri) Stice of Parsons, KS Two Daughters – Debbie (Tony) Phillips of Parsons, KS Lee Ann (Donnie) Smith of Collinsville, OK Thirteen Grandchildren – Jarod (Jessica) Stice, Jordan (Jamie) Stice, Jentry (Ryan) Page, Jailyn Stice, Tyler (Tonya) Phillips, Mikinzi (Kyle) Good, Kaleb (companion, Loren) Stice, Taylor (companion, Alex) Stice, Abbie Stice, Sydnie Stice, Brett (companion, Courtney) Smith, Kyle (companion, Chelsea) Smith, and Dylan (Paige) Smith Fifteen Great-Grandchildren – Jude, Jackson, Willow, Finley, Vivian, Morgan, Luka, Quinlyn, Olivia, Tate, Grady, Brooklyn, Claire, Greyson and Bryce One Sister – Shirley Coker of Grove, OK One Sister-in-law – Joan Withrow of Oxford, MS Several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, June Darnell. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons.
