Obituary for Doris M Baxter Doris M. Baxter, 93, of Delaware, died peacefully Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Born January 20, 1925 in Van Wert, Ohio to Olga (Shaffer) and George Peter Weck, she graduated from Convoy High School in 1943. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Doris, her husband Donald and Betty & Odus Baxter built Delaware Lanes in 1961 and she continued as an owner until 2017. She is survived a daughter, Debra (Edward “Chuck”) Connor of Delaware; two sons, David (Jeanne) Baxter of Delaware, Douglas (Brian Hastings) Baxter of New York; two grandchildren, Leslie (Ryan Landmark) Connor of Dublin, CA. ; Stephanie Baxter of Cincinnati and many nieces and nephews and sisters-in-law: Pauline Baxter of Wilshire, Ohio, Jean Wittung of Convoy, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Baxter in 1993 whom she married August 24,1946 as well as her sister Eileen Ryan and her brothers Eugene Weck, George Roger Weck and Donald Weck. Doris was a kind and generous mother, grandmother, and friend. Her strength of character was evident throughout the long life during which she witnessed great change in her family, her community, and the world.

Even in her last days her intelligence and sense of humor were still very much with her. She had a great laugh and a quick wit. Doris brought happiness to everyone’s life she touched and she was loved and will be missed by many.

Her family would like to thank all of the staff at Sarah Moore and Ohio Hospice that helped provide for her care. Private Graveside services will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date to be announced.
