Doris Marie Day Burnette was born April 28, 1938 and was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 22, 2018. Doris attended North Carolina A&T State University and retired from Lucent Technologies in 2001 after 20 years of service. She was a faithful member of Martins Chapel Baptist Church.

She served her church in many capacities as long as her heath permitted. Doris was the daughter of Climon & Ugie Wade Day, both deceased. She was the wife of Clarence Burnette, of Graham, NC.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons: Todd Day of Durham, NC and Marty Burnette of Burlington; two daughters: Gail Pinnix (Lee) and Natalie Burnette Howard both of Burlington, NC; sister-in-law: Marie B. Chavis (Warner); 9 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two aunts: Ida D. Burnette and Thenie D. Mebane; two special cousins: Barbara Jean Day of Burlington, NC and Nellie Day (Joe Rudy) of Durham, NC and a host of other relatives and friends.
