Mr. Edward Atkin Strayhorn, Sr., 82 of 4045 S. Jim Minor Rd. , transitioned on September 3, 2018 at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Hospitals. He was the son of Ben Jones and Pernatta Strayhorn Wilson, both deceased and the husband of Bernice Dark Strayhorn, also deceased.

He was a member of Mt. Moriah Missioanry Baptist Church and retired from Woodlawn Middle School as a Custodian. Survivors include: his children: Edward Strayhorn, Jr., James Strayhorn (Portia), William Strayhorn (Mary), Bennie Strayhorn (Pamela) and Rosa Strayhorn; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and a brother Bobby Jones.
