Graham – Loretta “Bobbie” Melton Hale, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Hospice Home surrounded by her family. She was born on October 16, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late James Claude Melton, Sr. and Luella Brooks Melton, and was the wife of 65 years to the late Paul Edmond Hale who died in 2017. Bobbie retired from Western Electric and the Alamance County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher; and was a former employee with the Burlington Police Department.

… Read More » She enjoyed working and being around all her co-workers. Bobbie loved and adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and she enjoyed spending all of her extra time with them. Bobbie is survived by her son, Michael L. “Mike” Hale (Jane); daughters, Paula H. Lowe (Jim), Barbara H. Reichert (Scott Haynes); grandchildren, Dee Lowder (Brad), JimmiAnne Lowe Ellington (Brian), Jessica Russell (Blake), Chelsea Reichert, Mitchell Reichert, Elizabeth Dawkins (Shannon Randleman), and Matt Dawkins; 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandson due in December; a brother, James “Jim” Melton, Jr. (Cheryl); her lifelong friend, Edith Gerringer Gilmore, and the daughter of her heart, Libbie Barber.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a granddaughter, Jacquelyn Alexandria Lowe. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 12, 2018 at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Grinnell with the burial to follow in Alamance Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday with a reception at the funeral home and other times at the home of the daughter, Paula Lowe. The Hale family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses at Springview Assisted Living in Graham and to the Hospice Home, for all of their loving care and compassion that was shown to Bobbie and to the family during her illness.
