Burlington – Joseph Preston “J.P.” Allison, 92, passed away at the Hospice Home surrounded by his loved ones on October, 24, 2018. He was born on January 8, 1926 to the late Joseph P. and Emma Compton Allison, and was the husband of 66 years to the late Christine Walker Allison who passed in 2015. J.P. retired from Burlington Industries in 1985 after 35 years as a supervisor.

After retiring he loved to join other BI retirees for breakfast every month as well as working in his yard. … Read More » J. P. farmed most of his life but especially loved to bush-hog and did so up until he was no longer able. J.P. is survived by his sons; Danny Allison and wife Connie and Steve Allison and wife Sharon.

Grandchildren; Teresa (Pete) Acosta, Tina (Todd) Wrenn, Bradley (Lesha) Allison, Crystal (Matt) McFarling and Christopher (Jessica) Allison. Great grandchildren; Cody Acosta, Preston and Allison Wrenn, William and Joshua McFarling, Samuel and EstherGrace Allison and Jacob and Chloe Klungseth. He is preceded in death by his wife; Christine Walker Allison, parents; Joseph P. and Emma Compton Allison, brothers; William “Willie” Alvis Allison, James “Jim” Lee Allison, Thomas “Tommy” Allison, Lacy Alton Allison, Charlie Allison, Robert Allison, Lewis Allison and Roy Howard Allison, sisters; Lillie Mae Allison Perry, Mary Allison Perry, Alice Allison Dean.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 26, 2018 at Union Ridge Church by Rev. Dan Ficklin with the burial to follow in church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 prior to the service and other times at the home.

The Allison family would like to express their gratitude to his many caregivers as well as to the Hospice Home, for all of their loving care and compassion that was shown to J.P. and to the family during his illness.
