Doris Marie Love was born March 4, 1945, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Mamie (Warren) Ragland. She passed away on Monday, April 30, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 73. Family visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Whitt Funeral Home.

Funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 3, at 10:00 A.M. at the Velma Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Higle officiating. Burial will follow in the Claude Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitt Funeral Home. Doris graduated from Pauls Valley High School. She married William Harvey Love in 1964 in Pauls Valley.

She worked at Joyce’s Lighting Center in Duncan and finished her career at Velma High School, retiring in 2011. She enjoyed making ceramic Santas, and she made lots of them. She loved cooking and making pecan pies, candy, and apricot cobblers.

She enjoyed going to the Chickasaw center where she worked in the counseling office. Doris was a member of the Velma Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Harvey; two brothers, Harold and wife Thelma Ragland of Pauls Valley and Walter ‘Buddy’ Ragland of Oklahoma City; one aunt, Juanita Boney; two nephews, Harold ‘Dean’ and wife Tawana Ragland of Norman and Deitrick and wife Jenny Russi of Texas; and two nieces, Carla Lewallen of Pauls Valley and Wimberly Fresia of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and many aunts and uncles. Serving as pallbearers will be Pat McClanahan, Charlie Foster, Turner Biffle, Adam Pogue, and Zac Pogue. Memorial contributions may be made in Doris’s name to the Velma Baptist Church building fund.
