Dorothy “Dotti” Legowski March 03, 1931 – February 19, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Dorothy “Dotti” Legowski, 87 of Carteret passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Hoboken University Medical Center. Born in Jersey City, Dotti resided there for many years before settling in Carteret 15 years ago. She was Irish through and through, but later a little bit Polish.

Dotti was employed at Lincoln Mills in Jersey City as a bookkeeper and was an avid supporter of her son and other officers of the Jersey City Police Department, many of whom called Ma or Mrs. L. She was always able to make you laugh and was loved by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, each of whom she had an everyday part in raising. Dotti was predeceased by her husband in 1969, Edward “Peanuts” Legowski as well as all of her siblings. Surviving are her children, Thomas Legowski, Lorraine Mobus and her husband Hervey, Mary Shaughnessy, Timothy Legowski and his wife Kathleen, Glen Legowski and his wife Carolyn; grandchildren, Timothy, Edward, Bubba, Kelly, Traci and Emily; great grandchildren, Gavin, Tyler, Mason, Natalie, Samantha and Alexis as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30am on Friday February 22, 2019 from CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 625 Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading, NJ 07064 followed by an 11am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph R.C. Church in Carteret. Cremation will be private. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
