Obituary for Doug Miller Mr. Doug Miller, age 62, of the Maple Gap section of Swords Creek, Virginia, passed away Saturday (February 9, 2019) at Heritage Hall of Tazewell. Born March 7, 1956 in Richlands, Virginia, he was a son of the late Harley Winfred and Ruby Edith Perkins Miller. A lifelong resident of the area, he was formerly employed as a coal miner and he loved fishing.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Miller and Rick Miller; one sister, Joyce Whited; paternal grandparents, Ira and Tiny Miller and maternal grandparents, James and Vergie Perkins. Survivors include two brothers, Raymond Miller and wife, Connie and Dean Miller and wife, Sandy both of Swords Creek, Virginia; former spouse, Debbie Miller of Honaker, Virginia and several special nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday at the Perkins Miller Cemetery, 285 Oak Leaf Lane, Swords Creek, Virginia with Rev. David Perkins officiating. Interment will follow.
Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at Honaker Funeral Home by 10:30 AM to travel in the funeral procession. Pallbearers will be Dave Miller, Burley Miller, Tyler Perkins, Austin Perkins, Scottie Whited, Chris Whited and Dakota Perkins. Online condolences may be made at www.
