Douglas James Proctor, 51, of Connersville passed away unexpectedly Thursday afternoon, July 5, 2018. He was born March 21, 1967, in Fayette County, Indiana, one of two children of Roy J. and Arminta Mae McFarland Proctor and was a 1985 graduate of Connersville High School. Following in his father’s footsteps, Doug was an excavator and was proud to be involved with the Pleasantview and Everton water projects and the 3rd Street Hill project in Connersville.

Recently, he enjoyed working on residential and commercial projects. Doug also worked as a caretaker for Residential CRF where he developed a special friendship with his client. In his leisure time, Doug enjoyed fishing and kayaking with his friends but especially loved to spend time at home with his family and playing with his son, Jaxon.

Doug was very involved with his children and took pride in coaching his son, Brice’s sports teams. Survivors include his fiancé, Amy Jo Sturgis of Connersville; four children, Brice Douglas Proctor of Greenwood, Indiana, Jaxon James Proctor, Macy Tomlin, and Jacob Byrd, all of Connersville; two grandchildren, Aaliyah Byrd and Ella Jade Byrd, both of Connersville; his mother, Arminta Proctor of Connersville; a sister, Frances Proctor and her fiancé, Mike Eldridge of Connersville; and a niece, Chloe Fields of Connersville. Doug is preceded in death by his father, Roy J. Proctor who passed away on October 2, 2016.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home with Reverend George Huff and Reverend Dennis Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the funeral home and online anytime at millermosterrobbins.com.

In consideration of Doug’s love of youth baseball, memorial contributions can be made to River’s Edge Park in care of the Fayette County Foundation.
